Matt Drudge touts Matt Drudge
It’s not unusual for Matt Drudge to draw attention to himself. What is unusual is the way he’s doing it tonight. Take a look…

“Dashing” pic of Drudge front & center. A link to Google Zeitgeist (search trends), where Drudge is outpacing Stern and other notables as a search keyword. Rare glimpse of Drudge-as-celeb here, or sign of things to come?

Mmmm, not really rare. He posts photos of himself when Drudge Report hits a milestone, like an anniversary. Although the last time Drudge ratings were news, he posted a story but didn’t think to include a photo.
I’m not sure it’s 100% a reflection of some craving for attention. Most publicists would advise Matt to do the very same thing.
I’ll say one thing: This guy has the best male lips in cyberspace.

It was the photo that caught me on this one. It was so prominent and “pretty.”

I could write a whole book on the PR ramifications of Drudge’s postings. Notice how most photos of Matt are either extremely dorky or extremely cheesy? But then, he’s not a public relations professional. It still kills me to watch him shoot himself in the foot. If he’d either learn the basic of PR or pay someone else to do it, he probably wouldn’t have spent the past 10 years looking like such a sleazebag to half the country.
On that topic, a quote from The Miami New Times, 2001:
“Drudge posted an e-mail inquiry he received from New York Times media reporter Felicity Barringer asking to speak with him. And while he remains aggrieved that the resulting piece was barely more than 200 words, he boasts, ‘You try getting the New York Times to write about you only a couple hours after you’ve posted ‘Why aren’t you writing about me?’”
