The Huffington Post, still huffing
As an update, over at The Huffington Post, things are pretty much the same as when they launched. There are a few more news updates and the blog is longer, but it still feels lame to me. It all seems canned. Not really a competitor to the Drudge Report.
One other thing I’m wondering is why they went with such a drab color scheme. The site might feel more lively if it looked more lively. And why are they using such awful black & white photos of the bloggers? I mean look at this guy.

RE: REVENGE OF THE SITH PRESS: REPORTERS RIP BUSH SPOKESMAN OVER NEWSWEEK MESS
DRUDGE CONSIDERS THE UPCOMING STAR WARS MOVIE
‘REVENGE OF THE SITH’ AS HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VARIETY OF CORPORATE PROMOTIONS THAT ARE DIRECTLY RELATED THE MOVIE-
LIKE BURGER KING, KELLOGG’S, CINGULAR, DIET PEPSI, M&MS, AND SO ON.
YET DRUDGE COMMITS THE SAME FORM OF HYPOCRISY
BY POSTING A HEADLINE AT DRUDGE REPORT JUST THE OTHER DAY
USING THE TERM ‘SITH’ CROSSED OUT AND REPLACED BY ANOTHER TERM.
THE HEADLINE, USING ‘SITH-‘ IN A WAY- IS SOME PATHETIC FORM OF TRYING TO GET IN ON THE STAR WARS MOVIE MAINSTREAM POP CULTURE BLITZ.
THIS IS DRUDGE HYPOCRISY.
DOES DRUDGE REALIZE THAT THE ‘SITH’ HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NEWS STORY REGARDING THE PRESS AND THE BRIEFING WITH PRESIDENTIAL SPOKESMAN SCOTT MCCLELLAN.
DRUDGE EVEN USED A PICTURE OF DARTH VADER.
THIS IS HYPOCRISY!!!

I have posted on the Huffington Post and guess what! Patricia Heaton actually wrote me
and expressed how thoughful I was…Now that is something no other portal blog does and
it is actually great to comment in the news section and celeb blog section. Right wing site
are either very controled or nothing..especially Drudge,Powerline, and Michelle Malkin.

Okay, guys, let’s use a little critical thinking here.
Regarding Comment#2, it’s great that Patricia had the time to write you. But we need to separate her consideration/time availability from the merits of Huffington Post and political differences among websites. Just because a blogger or contact on a “right wing site” hasn’t done that doesn’t mean it’s controlled. The quality/features of a site is irrelevant to its politics.
Drudge is a one-man operation and Huffington Post has a staff. It’s an apples-to-oranges comparison. Each has its own pros and cons. I personally haven’t been all that impresssed with Huffington Post so far, but I’ll continue to check back and give it a chance.
Regarding Commment #1, Drudge posts what he finds interesting and likes to have fun with it. (Lance already addressed comment#1 on Drudge Forum, so I won’t get further into it here.)
