Raisin’ Arizona

By RegoPark

I wish I’d had enough advance notice to mention Drudge’s rare public appearance at 550 KFYI’s 20th Birthday Blowout in Phoenix last Thursday. He was rather hot under the collar on last night’s show (again) about what must have been a lively panel debate with other radio hosts on the topic of Internet regulation.

You may know by now that I’ve built up quite a bit of an archives on Drudge — press interviews, a commonplace book of quotes on radio, etc. Aside from raw interview coverage, my most highly valued Drudgiana are panel discussions in which he interacts with other people. I’m not so interested in seeing another hat photo as I am seeing how he holds his philosophical own in a group setting. I really wish I could access old “Politically Incorrect” shows, on which he frequently appeared during its run. Check out Flightpundit’s event notes for a rundown of Matt’s comments and a link to..well…another hat photo. This time complete with a feather and an “all-white” ensemble (maybe he’s been waiting until after Memorial Day to break out the white pants).

Beforehand, he granted a very brief e-mail interview with the Arizona Republic — nothing new compared to the wealth of archives out there, but he did explain the paradox of why he doesn’t own a cell phone.

By the way - if anyone else was present at this event and has commentary on Matt’s dialogue with the other attendees, or any other aspect of his KFYI appearance, feel free to post a comment here.

  1. Lance Says:

    From the Arizona Republic interview:
“Q: How many hours a day are you in front of a computer?

    A: 14 hours a day - on a slow day. ”

    That’s a lot of hours!
