Ask Drudge Blog

By RegoPark
St. Petersburg, Russia Correspondent

I’m planning a special Q&A DrudgeBlog posting to answer questions about all things Drudge — including Matt Drudge himself, his career, the Drudge Report, Drudge Radio, as well as queries about DrudgeBlog itself.

Keep in mind that I don’t deal in gossip — and I’m pickier than Matt about the information I disseminate. I don’t pat myself on the back as a self-crowned Drudge expert here, but in the course of doing research on something else, I’ve accumulated an extensive archives of his press coverage, some show transcripts, and other “raw” materials. It’s possible I am the foremost authority out there — I don’t know. I do believe, however, that I am in a better position than most journalists to put it all in the correct context. And that includes dispelling rumors, misunderstandings, and commonly agreed-upon misinformation about the guy behind the Drudge Report.

Post any questions you might have below. I’ll post the complete Q & A toward the end of July.

Where is that long promised essay debunking the Drudge gay rumors? Also, what’s up with people who say, “He’s not gay but he’s metrosexual”? Can that assertion be taken seriously when one sees Drudge in yet another completely unstylish/mismatched outfit?

  2. Matt Smudge says:

Matt notes Mrs. Sheehan, mother of a fallen soldier, has changed her story! Seems now that it’s sunk it that her son is not coming back she’s angry with our President, George W. Bush! Where she once said something niche about the guy - she now criticizes him! What a hypocrite - but exposed by Matt! It’s time all Neo Cons and their homo lovers showed the world just how nasty they can be. Go, Matt! Giver her the old faggot arse-kicking only you can do!

First, Matt Drudge was on the fence about the Iraq war, at first if not now. I myself do not support the war. But some of her expectations of her meeting with Bush seemed unrealistic. Presidents have so many bereaved families to greet in so little time — they can’t know the name of every dead soldier or hold up everything to look at pictures or listen to what sounds like it could have been a hostile, no-win tirade. I don’t like Bush that much but am not ready to concede that he didn’t act in good faith to pay his respects. And most people don’t get to see the President of the United States. Those five minutes were her chance. What does she think a second meeting will accomplish?

It was a caller who reported the inconsistency in the original story, not Matt. There’s nothing nasty in questioning some of Cindy Sheehan’s comments or expectations. If I thought Matt were out of line, judging from my comments in here, don’t you think I would say so here?

And if you care enough to speculate about Matt’s sexual orientation, I’ll try to get to addressing those rumors as soon as I can.
