Refdesk
Matt Drudge’s father, Bob Drudge, has done pretty well for himself with his little site Refdesk.com. Helped in large part by a prominent link on the Drudge Report for years, Refdesk boasts huge traffic and successfully sustains itself with an annual donations drive.

I used Refdesk years ago, but took some time to check it out again recently. I guess the minimalist style runs in the family, as the overall plain look hasn’t changed much for years. But despite appearances, the site does offer a great collection of hand-picked links and tools in a portal format. If you get over the initial intimidation factor by the sheer number of links, you’ll probably find something that interests you here. It’s a nice reminder of the pre-Google good ol’ days of the net where you relied on hand-picked links to get real information. In this case, some classics don’t go out of style.

Dang it, Lance, you scooped me!
Bob Drudge doesn’t interview much, but the two he has given have been two of the most interesting among my “Drudge archives”. He seems like a nice guy…who’s maybe just a wee bit indiscreet with reporters, but in a way that’s okay. (Now I’m going to have to finish that post on the back burner)

Refdesk was just on my mind so I just went with the flow…
