Tough times for Drudge-like sites
Two prominent “Drudge Report inspired” sites have closed up shop recently. One was Neale News, a site I would call the Canadian Drudge Report. It was a slick and well produced site for Canadian headlines. It’s a shame to lose that one.
The other site was Sploid, the Gawker Media tabloid splash news site. Its telling that even a Gawker product in the Drudge news arena couldn’t hack it. Although the Sploid.com domain and site archives are for sale if you’ve got a bundle of cash to spare.

Gawker Media’s regrouping, anyway, and I think just did away with one of its editors (not Matt Drudge’s “admirer”). Sploid wasn’t necesarily a dog, just not a cash cow.
