Keep Those Wandering Eyes to Yourself, Now…

Today’s Market Watch coverage of Drudge’s latest readership peak may not report any “new news” other than Intermarket’s PR, but it does perpetuate the chicken-and-egg publicity cycle.  Another vote for someone who considers Matt’s site as relevant as it started…and who admits to “looking” at the links without actually clicking on them.  Um, okay.  I know NONE of us clicked onto the story about the speculated dog-and-cat litter.  I know I didn’t.  We only visit Drudge to look at the window dressing.  We read Playboy for actual — you know — articles.

Attention, Wikipedia Contributors!

I completely appreciate your confidence in my authority as a “Drudge scholar” (or whatever name you choose), and I am glad that someone out there takes the time that I don’t have to edit the “Matt Drudge” page on Wikipedia and other “public record” sources.  But in the future, please do not directly lift DrudgeBlog passages word-for-word without citing us.  I realize that it was not intentional plagiarism.  However, it is an intellectual property issue that even lowly bloggers like Lance and me need to take seriously.

If anyone is interested in editing the “Matt Drudge” Wikipedia page or consulting the source for my information on Matt Drudge, I will be happy to cite my references.  Because this blog isn’t a scholarly journal, and because of the time constraints, I don’t list a bibliography or assiduously reference every little thing I say — but I’m prepared to if needed.

My assumption is that the “lifting” I’m talking about will be weeded out by Wikipedia moderators because it’s not properly sourced.  It’s also my assumption that Drudge Blog would not hold up as a legitimate citation or noteworthy link in a Wikipedia article — a policy I respect and understand.   But I do share the site’s mission to protect the integrity of the public record — and don’t consider myself immune to it.

Just get used to following your English teacher’s commandment: Rewrite in your own words.

Thanks for your understanding.

Drudge Report Traffic Record

It was a big day for Drudge indeed…

Quote from Intermarkets:

DRUDGE REPORT TRAFFIC RECORD SET

Vienna, Virginia–Intermarkets, Inc., (www.intermarkets.net) reports that on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, traffic on the Drudge Report (www.drudgereport.com) broke the site’s traffic records, delivering more than 25.1 million page views, reaching more than 2.3 million unique visitors, and delivering more than a staggering 100 million ad impressions in just one day. (All data sourced from Intermarkets’ ad server reporting systems.)

This proves, once again, that when Americans want reliable, unbiased, instant news on what’s happening and what’s important, they trust Matt Drudge and the Drudge Report to deliver. And, they continue to return to the site, over and over, to get the latest updates.

Saddamned….and Sentenced to Lethal Injection….

of news!

“What’s that?” You ask?  “No, I think you mean hanging…”

Nope.  A lethal injection of news.  Drudge would never leave us hanging

Though something tells me we’ll see a thinning out of all the Borat links this week.

In the past 48 hours, DR has been red and white and black all over…
