Drudge’s Right Hand Man Tries His Hand at….

http://www.breitbart.tv/index.php

Since he returned to Drudge in 2005 after a few months’ absence, there’s been a clearer demarcation between Andrew Breitbart’s contribution to Drudge Report and Matt’s.  First breitbart.com, now the new new media.  Whatever’s in store for the one and only Drudge employee ever, it should get interesting…

(P.S. I’ll get to the radio comment I alluded to last post…this week I’ve only a few minutes of online time and I really need to listen to the archives carefully before shooting my mouth off.)

i hear thru the grapevine Andrew is leaving the Drudgereport to focus on his website fulltime.

“…..the one and only Drudge employee ever…”

    FYI……

I am pretty sure that those words are not 100% correct.

You might want to check again with your sources
concerning that type of MD/DR related information.

Over the many years…Matty’s been known to have
    quite a few “helpers”.

Joe and Jon: Not to discount “grapevine” leads, but I don’t present that as factual information here. Nor do have a stable of insider sources. I just happened to have gone through lots of research channels learning about  Matt Drudge as part of a book project

Joe, individually: He left once before to work for Huffington Post, and now that he is well on his way to extend his brand (having co-authored a book, et al) his departure wouldn’t be surprising. There will come a point when going out on his own will be the logical stepping stone. (btw, it’s therefore natural that people would speculate about Andrew’s leaving, so that kind of insider gossip wouldn’t be worth much. It’s more like “anticipatory hearsay”.)

Jon, individually: What do you mean by “helpers”? I am referring to Drudge Report employees who facilitate site logistics, whose existence can be verified. I specifically mean that so far as Matt has ever mentioned when asked in interviews, Andrew is the only person whom he has acknowledged as working for him. If you mean paid sources, that’s within the realm of possibility (he DID say in Playboy 1998 that “checkbook journalism has broken some great stories” and that he’d theoretically be willing to pay a source, though he never had at that time) but outside the realm of probability (given the massive amount of contact attempts daily and sources perfectly willing to leak something for free, along with the fact that he breaks news infrequently). There is, of course, controversy over whether he poaches mainstream media, but that’s another subject. I’ll try to elaborate further on info next post…
