Tiny Morsel of Hearsay: For What It’s Worth
I actually communicated with the friend of mine who ended up on the Drudge Report awhile back. To confirm the answers I’ve already given out, Matt Drudge actually has made an effort to do his own news research and generate original material, even from potentially hostile sources. Drudge did leave at least one message for my friend (who doesn’t appear any more endeared toward him now than during his 15 minutes of infamy.)
My curiosity had been piqued a bit because Drudge had claimed in his 1998 National Press Club speech that he had knocked on Monica Lewinsky’s door during the Clinton scandal, but that reference was curiously eliminated from the speech transcript that appeared in his book, Drudge Manifesto.
Anyway…just FYI, I guesss.

Right-wingers always seem to fill in for the purportedly angenda-less Drudge. Why is that?

Who’s he supposed to ask? There’s a difference between having conservative political leanings and having an agenda. The issue here isn’t his purported agenda. The issue is honoring his contractual obligations by finding an appropriate, available sub in a timely manner. If Camille Paglia did radio, he’d probably invite her if he weren’t afraid she’d inflame his usual radio fan base.

An interesting question to ask is…why doesn’t Matty
promote the show on his very popular website when
he has a fill in host doing the show for him?
It’s still the Matt Drudge Show…even if he isn’t there
to do the show.
